In the high-precision turbine disk manufacturing at MTU Aero Engines in Munich, efficiency, safety, and top-level quality are the highest priorities. To meet these requirements even more effectively in the area of final inspection, MTU Aero Engines relies on an innovative intralogistics solution from KRUPS Automation: the LOGO!MAT eCart system.
Intelligent intralogistics for sensitive components
The turbine disks to be inspected—central high-performance components in aircraft engines—are automatically transported between inspection steps and final visual workstations by a floor-guided, driverless transport system. Specially developed eCarts from KRUPS are used for this purpose, navigating autonomously and with precision.
Safe for personnel and at an ergonomic working height, the components systematically circulate through the inspection area until they reach the respective workstation for final visual inspection. The visual end control and approval by qualified specialists take place directly at these stations. A successful interplay of precision, safety, and automation – and another step toward the Smart Factory.
